  1. Great Back Yard Weather Station Review by Steve
    Value

This is the second weather station that I have owned. The first one was a LaCross 2310 and the bearings in th anemometer wore out in a short time frame. I really enjoy my Pro Digital Weather Station! It is a much better unit! Parts are easily replaceable and the wireless communcations are far superior to all of the wire installation needed for the LaCross unit. My unit is mounted near our garden so I can monitor rainfall and windspeed. I would not hesitate to purchase another. Recently, I broke one of the cups on the anemometer (my own careless fault), and it was an easy repair. If you're looking for a back yard weather station, this is the best that I have found so far! 2. Great product so far! Review by Mark
    Value

I needed to replace an old, cheap wireless weather station that quit working and spent weeks reading reviews and debating on what I should buy. I finally chose the Acurite 01500 / 01515 and could not be happier so far. It has been installed for a little more than a week now and has worked flawlessly with wind, rain, snow, and moderately warm and cold temps. I have validated the readings against other local stations, one of which is a Davis. I love watching the anemometer spin and trying to guess the wind speed! Everything works perfectly, was easy to set up, and is a great value.

The only improvements I would make would be:

    - Atomic clock (I hate resetting for daylight savings)
    - Faster refresh rate (18 seconds is too slow)
    - Decimal value display for temperature, humidity and wind speed
    - Larger characters on the display for temp and humidity
    - Better display quality for the ticker (it has to be at a certain angle to read)

  3. Lots of weather data for the price... Review by Andrew
    Value

I've had this weather station since Dec 2012 and for the most part I have been very happy with it. It gives me all the weather data that a backyard weather person would want. I do have a problem with the touch screen on the display but Acurite is going to send a replacement as soon as they come in. (Hope it's soon) I would and have recommend this unit to fellow weather nerds... (Posted on 2/25/13)

  4. Great value Review by Mark
    Value

There is a lot to like about this station. It does everything an average person will need. It is not a professional station, but it does not have the professional price either. The trend indicators and the solar fan are nice features the Davis station does not have. The only thing that needs improving is the display is hard to read at certain angles. This really needs correcting. I hope it lasts because I really like it and recommend it. It did have a problem with the display, but it was replaced promptly. You can't beat that. 5. Great weather station at a great price Review by Delvin
    Value

I used to collect weather data for NOAA and had to take daily temperature and precipitation totals. After I stopped collecting I really missed not knowing how much precipitation I was receiving on the farm. So I researched and found the 5 in 1 Pro Digital Weather Station with Weather Ticker and purchased it at a Lowes Home Improvement store for $99. The unit was very easy to set up and began transmitting quickly. The only problem that I had was I was unable to set the time and date. I contacted customer service and they determined the display unit was defective and sent me a new one at no charge.
So far it has worked flawlessly and I am very pleased with it. Great weather station at a great price and it does what most competitors brands do at a much more reasonable price. I really enjoy the rainfall and wind speed features. I would recommend this unit to anyone interested in collecting weather data for farming purposes, gardening, or just for personal info at your home. (Posted on 2/5/13)

  6. Great product Review by Chuck

Had a Lacrosse weather station for 3 yrs. and never could get the rain gauge to work. Tried maybe 15 times to get them to link up. Purchased the 5 in 1 installed batteries and everything worked perfectly the first time. Couldn't be happier. Had problems with the set up called AcuRite they sent a new right away. It like wise hooked up and displayed everything perfectly. (Posted on 2/4/13)

  7. Great product for great price - had some touch screen issues... Review by lsufan4747
    Value

Both my father and myself installed these a week apart for our homes around Christmas. We both were very impressed with the weather station as a whole. We both quickly realized that there was a touch screen issue where it would take a long time to change the date/date etc at the bottom touch part (just as another reviewer stated). I just got off the phone with customer support who was very nice and outstanding. They are sending us both new displays because there was a known bad batch of screens sent out. If these new displays work well, then I have to say I am pretty impressed with these stations and this customer support. (Posted on 1/25/13)

  8. nice unit but touch screen problems Review by Jerry
    Value

The weather station was easy to set up but had a problem with the touch screen. It took me over an hour to enter the time and date and when I tried to select a feature on the screen it would scroll through them all until I touched set. I called Acurite and they sent me a new display console and that one works fine. I am impressed with their service department. Fast and friendly service. (Posted on 1/15/13)

  9. All is good but... Review by dave

Installation went well and setting up preferences is involved but all is good and working as it should. However, there is something wrong with the touch screen. It does not work as it should and took me a patient hour to just set the time and date. I may return the receiver to the mfr if it persists. (Posted on 1/12/13)

I have enjoyed using this weather station. It was a little challenging to get everything set on the display that I wanted, but finally worked it out. I like the way you can personalize the information on the display. I would recommend it to all.

I have enjoyed my 5in1 weather station. I replaced a worn out Davis unit and it has exceeded my expectations. I look forward to putting it online with the new data link now available. (Posted on 11/26/12)

  12. Very Impressed... Review by Lance
    Value

I had a Lacrosse 1080 unit with wireless/solar sensors that quit over time and wind sensor died during Hurricane Sandy...

Picked up 01515 unit at Lowe's and installed the sensor on side of shed using setup described in forums using 3/4 pipe.

Readings immediately starting coming and in comparison to 4 WU stations in my immediate area, weather station is spot on.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in monitoring weather conditions around your neighborhood. Plan on buying another display to add to basement office and upstairs bedroom.

    Thanks. (Posted on 11/7/12)

  13. Great Product and Service Review by WJQ
    Value

I like almost everything about this unit. Well engineered, flexible screen display, easy to set up, easy to use, etc. My unit came with the rain gauge not functioning and once I called to discuss, the agent suggested several steps to test. Once I completed those and called back to report it still didn't work, they agreed to send a new sensor unit with no hassle. Thus, great customer service. I have recommended this unit to others and will buy Acurite again.

In the first sentence I said almost -- the moving ticker is mostly a gimmick and I do not use it or pay attention to it. Nevertheless, still an outstanding product. (Posted on 11/5/12)

  14. NICE weather station Review by Weathernut

I ordered this station 08/20/2012 and they shipped it fast! I first read some reviews before buying. If you're contemplating about getting one don't worry go ahead and buy it because it's real nice! I'm really please with mine! I bought this model because it comes with an AC adapter and it has the blue backlighting which you can trun on or off when you want to. Working great!! (Posted on 9/2/12)

  15. Seems To Have It All Review by Fussy Customer
    Value

The Acu-Rite 01500 Wireless Weather Station has been installed and in use for 5 weeks now and I am very happy with the overall performance. The one part that could be improved is the clarity of the 'weather ticker'. It seems to be a bit fuzzy and one needs to get to the right and look at an angle to read the scrolling ticker easily. All the weather functions perform as expected and appear to be very accurate. I like the feature on the ticker of knowing what the low and high for the day/week/month was, and how many days without rain. The perfect item for the weather buff.

  16. Excellent Weather Station Review by Chad1982
    Value

This is an excellent Weather Station for the price, only paid $105 for it online. I have had it for about 7 months now working fine, only thing that I don't like is the dew point readings are usually off other than that it works great (Posted on 7/29/12)

  17. Installed this afternoon.............(Somerset NJ) Review by Paul
    Value

Just installed today. Unit is mounted on a six foot 4x4 in the middle of my garden and at a distance of 170 feet from the house. So far so good and signal strength is a full 4 - bars! Time will tell as to how long it will last. Everything works great so far. I like the simple and easy to install design of this unit. Looks great out in the backyard. Paid only $99.00 at my local Lowe's! (Posted on 7/25/12)

  18. eXCELLENT Review by Ross
    Value

Eveything works great and accurate to everything else everyone else is reporting about me. One question did anyone notice that the wind direction instrument is offset and does not spin as free as the wind speed instrument. It does not seem to affect the reading of direction but I was wondering if it got bent in shipping or if it was designed like that. (Posted on 7/13/12)

  21. Great features Review by James
    Value

I got tired of my La Crosse variants around here flaking out and I've been lurking here and elsewhere trying to decide which weather station to get as far as low cost but good units go. Lowes had a good price on the 1515 and it was in stock so I picked it up Sunday.
It picked up the 5-1 right away and has max signal even about 30 feet away and through my whole small house..... I do really like the weather ticker feature and the current rain total per event is nifty too. I also like that they include a small fan for the temp sensor hidden inside the 5-1 as most makers charge extra for that feature.
It seems to track temp pretty close to my working wired Lacrosse so far and I'm sure the rain totals will be better as both units have had issues with that function. (Posted on 5/3/12)

  22. Very Nice Product Review by Chuck a.
    Value

My 8" Professional Digital Weather Station has been up for about 4 months now. All features function as advertises and are very accruate. Was easy to put up and took less than 20 minutes to place it about 10' above the grauge roof. The receiver is located about 100' from the station with three walls between the two and reception is a strady 4 out of 4 possible. Living near Lake Michigan the temp and wind direction and speed are often different from the offical recording station so it is nice to know what the weather information is at my house. Great Product. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment. (Posted on 4/20/12)

  23. 01500 WOW Review by Rich
    Value

I bought the “01500 WeatherStation” in February. The 01500 was mounted on a fence post for a month. All the readouts seemed logical. I just had to test the anemometer to see how it compared to my speedometer.
My GPS and speedometer and the 01500 all agreed at 30, 40, and 50 MPH. Wow! I trusted the 01500 at lower speeds. Besides, I did not like to be seen driving around a long time with this goofy setup. The breakaway friction on the anemometer is extremely low and gives readouts down to 1 MPH, when I cannot feel the breeze. . Now that it passed the speed test I may mount it on a 20 foot pole away from thehouse and barn.

A few years ago I installed two Davis Pro2 weather stations at work. I prefer the 01500 for ease of installation. Also the display on the 01500 has all the information I want constantly shown. I don’t have to search through a menu to find information. For $123 I’m impressed.

    I'm happy. (Posted on 4/3/12)

  24. Easy set up, great product Review by fryman
    Value

Just bought and set up, just added batteries, mounted the sensor and it was ready to go.
The sensor unit's base fits on a one inch diameter pipe, two brackets and it was mounted to the side of the garage, only took a few minutes. The readings are very close to what the TV is reporting, so far I'm very happy with this unit. Keep up the good work, highly recommended. (Posted on 3/17/12)

  26. Nice system but hate the rain feature Review by jonjonbear
    Value

I really like the system for the most part but the rainfall part will display total rainfall, monthly rainfall and "rainfall even" which seems to reset fairly quickly. I would like to know how much rain I have had for the day, not how much I have had just since the rain started falling. When I left for work it showed .15" and when I got home, .09". (Posted on 2/17/12)

  27. WOW this unit is awsome Review by cousinvinny1212
    Value

I got it for a gift from my better half for Valentines Day as I am a buff for the local weather other than relying on internet instruments that I got for Christmas or TV. It was so easy to set up just follow the instructions. All I had to change was the inside temperature so I followed the instructions and adjusted the temp 1 degree. This is the best instrument I have ever had. Beats the rest of the competition. ENJOY (Posted on 2/15/12)

  28. Sub-zero temps no prob Review by BiZzo!
    Value

It's been 3 months and I'm very impressed with the weather station. The sub zero temps have had no effect on the performance and all functions work as advertised. I'd suggest using lithium AA's in the outdoor sensor.
My original sensor failed, however a quick exchange at my nearest Lowe's solved that issue. Amazingly, The 'Forecast' feature has outsmarted my local weathermen again and again! (Posted on 2/2/12)

I've had this station for over a month now and I'm very impressed with it! It has alot more features than the Weather Channel station I used to use. The only complaint I have is with the display, the weather ticker is a little difficult to see. The weather readings are very close to other nearby stations in my area. I plan on getting the Acu-Link Internet Bridge when it comes out in early 2012 so I can stream my conditions on wunderground.com. (Posted on 1/2/12)

  34. Battery Hog Review by Cap-N-Stan
    Value

Just replaced my Model #00992 Pro Weather Station (radio xmter failed after 3 years) with the Model #01500. Both of these feature rich units are well designed and function as advertised. As a returning customer I find both excelent units have one glaring omission. They use an excessive amount of alkaline batteries (10 for the 01500 and 7 for the 00992). My past experience has been that the alkaline batteries last for 45-60 days and are difficult to replace. A better option would be to use rechargable batteries (last for 5 years) utilizing the solar panel and 120v power supply to keep them fully charged. (Posted on 12/1/11)

It is mostly good but the "Wind Chill/Heat index/Feels Like Temperatures" are way off. It can be chilly, breezy and feel ten degrees colder than it is; yet this thing will show a heat index of a higher temp and no wind chill. Clearly this thing doesn't know how calculate "Feels Like temp" it is always way off. Other than that, it is good product. (Posted on 11/5/11)
