I don't know what people expect out of a $10 thermometer, but I'm not trying to do a chemistry experiment with it, I just need to determine how to dress when I walk out the door. It has always been accurate within a couple of degrees. When the battery died I just bought another battery at cvs and had no problem at all with unscrewing the battery compartment.

I got this for a gift And as soon as i got it ready it was up on my bedroom window. Already giving me the temperature. It also gives min/max records. I think that's an addition to knowing what the warmest or coldest temperatures were. (Posted on 5/22/12)

This is a great thermometer. I keep it on the outside of the front door, so I can see from indoors what temperature I'm going out into - no matter what the time of day. My only complaint is that it is not waterproof - it will not work if it gets water inside, so wherever you place it there must be shelter from rain or snow.
