  1. Accurate but only for the year Review by Daniel
    Value

I've had this exact model for just over the warranty period. My inside digital readout works great but the weather station outside stopped sending a signal to my inside digital readout. I tried changing the batteries, cleaning the solar cell etc. I can't get a signal from it period. I tried changing the channels from A, B and C, Nothing. Good product.....but only for a year I suppose. (Posted on 9/4/14)

  2. A good value in a personal weather station Review by Ed
    Value

I received my model 01015 weather station last Christmas from my older daughter. The unit was set up and installed on New Year's Eve. The sensor was installed using the mount the came with the unit but I also coupled a 2 ft. long 3/4" PVC pipe onto the upper most beam of my patio cover which placed the sensor about 12 ft. off the ground and out in the middle of my backyard in the open air. Soon I began to notice temperature spikes in the mid and late morning hours due to the solar panel not receiving sufficient sunlight to activate the fan inside the radiation shield which caused inaccurate high temperature readings. The problem was eliminated by re-positioning the sensor unit 45 degrees toward the northwest but it also caused a corresponding error in wind direction readings that must be taken into consideration. It is my opinion that the dual solar panel option should be made a standard feature on these units but it is also my opinion that re-designing the solar panel to give it 180 degrees of sunlight exposure, which would allow the fan to run earlier in the day and for longer periods, could be a better solution. Overall I am very satisfied with this unit and believe it to be a good value in a personal weather station. (Posted on 8/21/14)

  3. Best weather station I have ever owned Review by Ed C
    Value

I got my model 01015 weather station as a Christmas gift from my older daughter. The unit was installed on my patio cover and set up on New Year's Eve with the mounting bracket that comes with the unit but I also coupled a 2 ft. long 3/4" PVC pipe to the senor which positioned it in the middle of my backyard about 12 feet off the ground and about the same distance from the back of the house. I pointed the sensor due south as the directions prescribe but it wasn't long that I noticed that I was getting a substantial temperature spike during the mid to late morning hours due to the solar panel not receiving an adequate amount of sunlight to activate the fan inside the radiation shield. As a stop gap measure I re-positioned the sensor unit 45 degrees toward the northwest which has eliminated the problem with the temperature spikes in the mid to late morning hours, the error in the wind direction must now be accounted for, not a serious issue in my opinion, but it is also my belief that the dual solar panel option should be a standard feature on this unit or perhaps an enlargement of the current solar panel maybe some kind of wrap-around solar panel could be designed and used on future iterations of this product. Even having said this it is the best weather station I have ever owned. (Posted on 8/21/14)

I installed my 01515 weather station 6 days ago and have been very pleased with it. I also purchased and installed the 5-in-1 sensor pro add-on to avoid false sunny afternoon temperatures. So far my weather station has been matching up with the local airport two miles from my home. Great product! (Posted on 7/5/14)

My 1515 has been up about a week and it is still adjusting to the climate and altitude here in Georgia. I mounted it on a 10 foot, heavy conduit pipe and raised it to my roof line. Installation was a breeze, no problems, I loaded it with batteries, raised it to the roof, loaded the monitor with batteries and turned it on,set the time and date and it went to working immediately. I got it installed 1 day before the big snow and the device was dead on the money as I monitored it over the next few days. I've already recommended it to 4 of my friends. So far I am well pleased with the 1515 and hope it keeps working as it has so far. (Posted on 2/1/14)

  8. Works well. My LCD's have been problematic. Review by Andrew
    Value

My display is VERY VERY hard to read. Contrast is off and basically I cannot read the ticker at all. I contacted support and they sent me a new one. However, it is just as bad. I just figured this was normal. As I have come back to read the reviews, I noticed that many stated there was a bad batch...and the pictures here indicate that the screen has been changed or fixed. I wish I would have checked sooner. It would be nice to be able to read the screen better...been using the PC/IOS app to monitor mainly. Still highly recommend. Works well. (Posted on 1/23/14)

Just mounted the remote unit outside on a stainless steel pipe which itself is mounted to a 4X4 post at the corner of a large deck. This makes the remote approx. 23 feet about the ground with no obstructions. I set up the monitor and everything is working well. Very Accurate. Just need a little rain to test that portion of the remote. (Posted on 12/24/13)

I received my #01515 weather station as a Christmas gift in 2011. I promptly installed it on 12/26/11 and it's been running flawlessly ever since. I still have the original 4 - AA batteries in the outdoor unit and it's still running without any problems what so ever. It's great to have a product that lives up to expectations, I would highly recommend this device to anyone looking for an accurate, quality device. (Posted on 11/19/13)

I have been a weather-buff for about twenty years. I have owned a number of home weather-stations ,during this time. Oregon-scientific, La Cross and a few others. But this little beauty has really impressed me. The setup was a breeze . Everything seems to be spot on when compared with my manual instruments. After the 30 day learning mode. Was pretty close after the 14 day mode, But it improved even more after 30 days. It is mounted about 25 feet up on a pole, in an open place. Can't wait to get the AcuLink so I can get it on the web. But that may be some time. It's very tough here in eastern KY. When the coal doesn't flow, This place get hit harder than a lot of the rest of the country. P.S. you don't take food stamps do you? Probably not. I have had it up about 5 weeks now, And if it continues to perform in this manner, AcuRite is my brand from now on. (Posted on 11/11/13)

  14. Great Product. Great Customer Service Review by Dave G.
    Value

I had owned the 1500 Weather Station for about 10 month and was very happy with the overall performance of the unit. The outside humidity reading got "stuck" on 98%. I made one call to customer service. They asked me for the "code number" on the sticker in the battery compartment of the inside display unit and they told me that a new outside sensor would be on its way to me at "NO CHARGE". I received the new outside sensor unit within just a few days. I installed it with fresh batteries and could not get any outside readings. I called customer service and I was told to be sure that the "I.D. Switches" were both in the same position and to push the "reset button" on the inside display unit. Within minutes all the outside functions appeared on the inside display. Thank you for the Great Customer Service ! (Posted on 11/10/13)

I had a few problems with my new 01515. My expectations when I called customer service were really shot down. I was not given the run around instead I was treated like a valued customer. Within minutes of the call Acurite sent me very understandable information to help me with my problem. When that didn't work they happily sent me a replacement of outdoor 5 n 1 temp sensor. Thank you so much Charlotte. (Posted on 11/7/13)

  17. Initial Summary--Instruction Manual Review by Kim
    Value

I've just installed the unit thoroughly reading find out I was supposed to remove a shipping tab in the rain collector!?!? Putting it up took some labor so to find out I was supposed to remove a rain sensor shipping tab (found out by checking FAQ trouble-shooting for future ref) but this step is not in basic setup portion of manual. Also, the diagram of where the AC plug is located is absolutely misleading. Hopefully this system will actually work but your manual instructions need to be dummy proofed before you publish them (Posted on 10/12/13)

  18. Very good system! Review by Pete
    Value

Installation of this system was very easy. Connection between base unit and sensor was almost immediate after batteries installed.

Only draw backs I see are that the back light on the base unit should stay on longer, or be allowed to stay on all the time the AC power unit is connected. Also, the touch sensitivity on the base unit is not sensitive enough. I sometimes have to touch the buttons 5 or 6 times before the unit registers the tough. Addition of an Atomic Clock would be a nice addition.

Other than these few minor set backs, this is an excellent system and would highly recommend to everyone looking for a moderately priced home system! (Posted on 10/4/13)

I replaced a 7 year old weather station with the 01500. The set-up was fast and easy. The bright display is easy see even from a distance. One hour after I set-up the 01500, I check the data from the NWS, ( which is only 9 miles from my residence) and found the data on the 01500 to be spot on with the NWS. By far, the 01500 is a top notch home weather staion. The price is one of the best I've seen. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. (Posted on 8/30/13)

Replaced a 7 year old weather station with the 01500. Set-up was easy and fast. The bright display is easy on the eyes and large enough to see from a distance. After one hour, I checked the data from the National Weather Service Station (which is only 9 miles from my house) and found the info on the 01500 to be spot on with the NWS. I am excited. Following the weather has been so much a "thing" that friends and family call me to find out what's happening. I now live in the mountains with high ridges on two sides so the weather at my location is never the same as reported on the local (?) channels. It will be nice and much more usable to have the exact temp, humidity, pressures, rainfall and forecast as it is right now on my little piece of paradise. Putting everything together was a snap (follow the directions) and I had the unit installed completely and giving forth it's blessings for the day. Well, not always a blessing but you get the pic. I am a 74yo combat disabled vet and as you can imagine, the weather was always a factor. Thank you for coming into my home. DD, Bland County Virginia (Posted on 7/20/13)

  27. Acurite Professional Weather Center Model 01515 / AcuLink Review by RDF
    Value

I had long wanted an affordable and functional backyard weather station. This is it.

The 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor consolidates the external sensor components for the Weather Center’s Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Temperature, Humidity and Rainfall into one easily manageable unit.

The Weather Center’s Model 1500 Display Console gives all significant information at a glance with the ability to customize some of the displayed information to fit particular situations or preferences. I really like the touch controls and I especially like the ability to have the Display Console’s BackLight always on (via the 5V A/C Adapter). This feature eliminates the annoying problem of constantly having to tap a BackLight button in order to read the Display Console in low light conditions.

I did customize the installation of the 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor to ensure a strong/stable base and support. In place of the supplied plastic mounting bracket I used 3/4” schedule 40 pvc pipe segments to construct a stand and cross brace. I internally strengthened the pvc pipe segments by inserting 3/4” wooden dowels into them and I used articulating flag pole brackets to attach this assembly to a pressure treated 2 x 6 base and to a 4 x 4 post for the cross brace. My hope is that this will make the 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor solid and stable under a wide range of outside conditions. I am not saying that the supplied mounting bracket would not work but based on other on-line reviews/comments as well as my particular situation, I decided to take a couple of extra and fairly easy steps in this regard. Also, and as an aside, by painting my customized mounting bracket assembly to match my home’s trim, the assembly and the 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor blends unobtrusively with my home’s exterior.

I next added remote monitoring by purchasing separately the AcuLink Internet Bridge. I cannot say enough about this incredibly effective unit. It installed easily and it seamlessly acquired the information from the 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor and transmitted it to AcuRite’s Cloud. All of the information from the 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor is now available on my Web Browser as well as on my SmartPhone via AcuRite’s My Backyard Weather application. Both the full Website version of this application as well as the Mobile version do an outstanding job of portraying both current and historical information at a glance while supplying the ability to see additional information from a highly intuitive interface. Also, the Internet Bridge is extensible. A single bridge can support up to three sensors. I added two additional Tower sensors to track temperature and humidity in different interior locations easily and without problem.

I really do not have any criticisms but will note some very minor items for the Model 01500/01515 Display Console -- although these items are available either elsewhere or in a slightly different format as explained later. First, though, these items are definitely in the nature of “icing on the cake” and are not meant to detract from this excellent display and its exceptional functionality. These “Nice to have” items are a graphical barometric pressure 12/24 hour history and an iconic moon phase display. Although a graphical 12/24 hour barometric history graph is not available on the display, a 12 Hour barometric pressure history graph (plus much more) is available via AcuLink and the My Backyard Weather Application and, although an iconic moon phase display is not available, Moon Phase is part of the 01500/01515 Display Console’s Weather Ticker information. Lastly, I do agree with other reviewers that the LCD display used for the Model 01500/01515 Display Console is most clear from straight on and fairly close with the Weather Ticker information being the Display Console’s most difficult to read information. But again, this is pretty typical of LCD displays and crystal clear non-LCD displays are typically only available with systems that cost significantly more than this one. All in all this is an excellent system which works as advertised.

I would also like to compliment Acurite’s Support. I had a problem early on which I believe in retrospect may have been self inflicted but to which Acurite’s Support was most responsive -- both in analysis and resolution. Not all of the touch controls on my first 01500/01515 Display Console worked or they worked erratically. Acurite Support after gathering some initial information felt that the Console was defective and replaced it with a new model 01500RX that worked without problem. I believe that the problem may have been caused by using the wrong type of batteries. I initially used AA Lithium batteries both in the Display Console and in the 5-N-1 Multi-Sensor thinking that these would be the best possible batteries that I could put in place both in terms of long term operation and, for the outside unit, the widest range of temperature conditions. However, I think that the AA Lithium batteries that I used may have provided to strong of a milliamp output (discharge rate) for the Display Console and that this may have been the root cause of the display’s touch control problems that I experienced. This is just my guess and does not represent a confirmed situation or problem assessment. In any event, with the new display only regular Alkaline batteries were used and there have been no problems whatsoever with it.

Again, for someone such as myself who has been looking for an affordable and functional entry level backyard weather station, this is a great system. I highly recommend it.

  28. Much better than my old one Review by Chris
    Value

I had a less featured packed station that had also come from Lowe's and it finally died. Our local Lowe's had weather stations in store, but not this one. I looked it up online, liked it and ordered it for store pick up at another nearby Lowe's, getting their last one. By the time I placed my order the store had just closed but I shortly got a message it was ready and I picked it up the next morning. The box was pretty beat up and they asked me to open it to make sure everything was OK and it was due to the egg crate packaging. It was a snap to install. I mounted the outside unit on the post for my old unit. It took longer to expected to install only because of a thunderstorm! Instructions are simple and straight forward. Unlike other reviews, all my touch buttons seemed to work just fine. If you have trouble reading the weather ticker, just change the speed and adjust your viewing angle, it worked for me. The add on rain collector for my other, different brand never worked and their support kept suggesting new batteries. My new Acu-Rite is out there right now, collecting, measuring and displaying rainfall. I've checked the measurements against a very close by WeatherBug station and everything looks good. 29. Unbelievably Easy To Set Up And Use - Great Customer Service Review by Norman W.
    Value

I have had two Oregon Scientific Weather Stations prior to purchasing this unit. I found them very difficult to keep in service, so I started looking for a reasonably priced unit with all of the features I wanted. I settled on this unit, and ordered it. When it came it was unbelievably easy to set up!! Very intuitive! I had the station up and running in about 1/2 hour. The display is awesome, anything you want to know about the weather is displayed on the back-lit screen. No squinting or working through menus to see the readings!
During the initial set up, I had difficulty setting up the date on my unit. I called customer care, got an English (American) speaking service person, explained my problem and they immediately sent me a replacement console no questions asked!!
My only regret is that I didn't purchase this unit when I purchased my first Oregon Scientific station!! (Posted on 6/27/13)

It took me 3 months or so to get this put up. I had to figure how to mount it higher than our roof yet away from the antenna. But I finally did. I am really impressed with the information that I can get off one screen. The last weather station I had before was wired which was a mistake but I also had to cycle through screens to see all the information. This unit gives me all the important information right there in front of me. (Posted on 6/14/13)

  32. Good basic weather station Review by Handyman321
    Value

The all-in-one transmitter is very well designed. The instructions are very clear where NOT to place it in order to get reliable readings.
There is no computer interface. It is difficult to get the high/low from the previous day. It does have the high/low records and states the date it occurred. It has not rained so I cannot tell how well the reading reflect the actual event.
Has many options for mounting. The best place is away from paved surfaces and any tall structure (house, tree, etc). The paved surface or house reflects heat causing inaccurate readings. Tall structures increase the wind reading falsely. (Posted on 6/6/13)

Purchased yesterday and is working with no errors and no surprises. Easy to install. Easy to read the display. Seems to be accurate. No problem with manuals. Just cannot give 5 stars till I own it longer to see how long the batteries last in sensor. Crawling up on the roof every few weeks wouldn't be fun. Also will need to know how economically it would be to connect to internet/PC. $80 for the internet bridge is over double what it is worth. Replaced a Lacross temp/humidity station whose solar batteries in sensor gave out--manual says non-replaceable and I agree--nothing else would work--great example of planned obsolescence. 36. Mr Review by BlueMax
    Value

Maybe its due to evolving technology or maybe somebody finally set forth on a mission to build something that works as advertised. We took the weather station out of the box, put batteries in both the display and the Integrated Multi-Sensor and it worked. The End. I must also mention the owners manual, you can actually read it and understand what you are reading. Maybe because the device is so easy to use, all the technical jargon is not necessary. It does not matter what you put the batteries in first, you don't have to have the weather station's Integrated Multi-Sensor and Display within five feet of each other and you don't have to stand on your head! More features than you can imagine and you don't have to buy a separate rain sensor. This is a complete weather center. Now mounting the Multi-Sensor, which seems rather large when you take it out of the box but looks much better mounted is best left up to your imagination. I mounted mine on the apex of the roof hanging out over the garage. If you want to mount yours on a 2x4 or pipe sticking out of the ground that's up to you. But if you have previously owned a weather station endorsed by the weather channel, you have to try this one. You will not be disappointed. (Posted on 5/23/13)

I've had this unit for about a month and very pleased. Setup took less than 15 minutes. I have been through a couple weather stations and this one is the best so far. My wife rolls her eyes every time I get a new weather station. The forcast seems accurate to me. I have compared readings to local stations and they are comparable. The weather ticker is fun to read. I'll probably purchase the internet bridge after the holidays. Great gadget to annoy the wife. I highly recommend. (Posted on 5/22/13)

  39. Great Back Yard Weather Station Review by Steve
    Value

This is the second weather station that I have owned. The first one was a LaCross 2310 and the bearings in th anemometer wore out in a short time frame. I really enjoy my Pro Digital Weather Station! It is a much better unit! Parts are easily replaceable and the wireless communcations are far superior to all of the wire installation needed for the LaCross unit. My unit is mounted near our garden so I can monitor rainfall and windspeed. I would not hesitate to purchase another. Recently, I broke one of the cups on the anemometer (my own careless fault), and it was an easy repair. If you're looking for a back yard weather station, this is the best that I have found so far! 40. Great product so far! Review by Mark
    Value

I needed to replace an old, cheap wireless weather station that quit working and spent weeks reading reviews and debating on what I should buy. I finally chose the Acurite 01500 / 01515 and could not be happier so far. It has been installed for a little more than a week now and has worked flawlessly with wind, rain, snow, and moderately warm and cold temps. I have validated the readings against other local stations, one of which is a Davis. I love watching the anemometer spin and trying to guess the wind speed! Everything works perfectly, was easy to set up, and is a great value.

The only improvements I would make would be:

    - Atomic clock (I hate resetting for daylight savings)
    - Faster refresh rate (18 seconds is too slow)
    - Decimal value display for temperature, humidity and wind speed
    - Larger characters on the display for temp and humidity
    - Better display quality for the ticker (it has to be at a certain angle to read)

  41. Lots of weather data for the price... Review by Andrew
    Value

I've had this weather station since Dec 2012 and for the most part I have been very happy with it. It gives me all the weather data that a backyard weather person would want. I do have a problem with the touch screen on the display but Acurite is going to send a replacement as soon as they come in. (Hope it's soon) I would and have recommend this unit to fellow weather nerds... (Posted on 2/25/13)

There is a lot to like about this station. It does everything an average person will need. It is not a professional station, but it does not have the professional price either. The trend indicators and the solar fan are nice features the Davis station does not have. The only thing that needs improving is the display is hard to read at certain angles. This really needs correcting. I hope it lasts because I really like it and recommend it. It did have a problem with the display, but it was replaced promptly. You can't beat that. 43. Great weather station at a great price Review by Delvin
    Value

I used to collect weather data for NOAA and had to take daily temperature and precipitation totals. After I stopped collecting I really missed not knowing how much precipitation I was receiving on the farm. So I researched and found the 5 in 1 Pro Digital Weather Station with Weather Ticker and purchased it at a Lowes Home Improvement store for $99. The unit was very easy to set up and began transmitting quickly. The only problem that I had was I was unable to set the time and date. I contacted customer service and they determined the display unit was defective and sent me a new one at no charge.
So far it has worked flawlessly and I am very pleased with it. Great weather station at a great price and it does what most competitors brands do at a much more reasonable price. I really enjoy the rainfall and wind speed features. I would recommend this unit to anyone interested in collecting weather data for farming purposes, gardening, or just for personal info at your home. (Posted on 2/5/13)

Had a Lacrosse weather station for 3 yrs. and never could get the rain gauge to work. Tried maybe 15 times to get them to link up. Purchased the 5 in 1 installed batteries and everything worked perfectly the first time. Couldn't be happier. Had problems with the set up called AcuRite they sent a new right away. It like wise hooked up and displayed everything perfectly. (Posted on 2/4/13)

  45. Great product for great price - had some touch screen issues... Review by lsufan4747
    Value

Both my father and myself installed these a week apart for our homes around Christmas. We both were very impressed with the weather station as a whole. We both quickly realized that there was a touch screen issue where it would take a long time to change the date/date etc at the bottom touch part (just as another reviewer stated). I just got off the phone with customer support who was very nice and outstanding. They are sending us both new displays because there was a known bad batch of screens sent out. If these new displays work well, then I have to say I am pretty impressed with these stations and this customer support. (Posted on 1/25/13)

  46. nice unit but touch screen problems Review by Jerry

The weather station was easy to set up but had a problem with the touch screen. It took me over an hour to enter the time and date and when I tried to select a feature on the screen it would scroll through them all until I touched set. I called Acurite and they sent me a new display console and that one works fine. I am impressed with their service department. Fast and friendly service. (Posted on 1/15/13)

Installation went well and setting up preferences is involved but all is good and working as it should. However, there is something wrong with the touch screen. It does not work as it should and took me a patient hour to just set the time and date. I may return the receiver to the mfr if it persists. (Posted on 1/12/13)

I have enjoyed using this weather station. It was a little challenging to get everything set on the display that I wanted, but finally worked it out. I like the way you can personalize the information on the display. I would recommend it to all.

  50. Very Impressed... Review by Lance
    Value

I had a Lacrosse 1080 unit with wireless/solar sensors that quit over time and wind sensor died during Hurricane Sandy...

Picked up 01515 unit at Lowe's and installed the sensor on side of shed using setup described in forums using 3/4 pipe.

Readings immediately starting coming and in comparison to 4 WU stations in my immediate area, weather station is spot on.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in monitoring weather conditions around your neighborhood. Plan on buying another display to add to basement office and upstairs bedroom.

    Thanks. (Posted on 11/7/12)

  51. Great Product and Service Review by WJQ
    Value

I like almost everything about this unit. Well engineered, flexible screen display, easy to set up, easy to use, etc. My unit came with the rain gauge not functioning and once I called to discuss, the agent suggested several steps to test. Once I completed those and called back to report it still didn't work, they agreed to send a new sensor unit with no hassle. Thus, great customer service. I have recommended this unit to others and will buy Acurite again.

In the first sentence I said almost -- the moving ticker is mostly a gimmick and I do not use it or pay attention to it. Nevertheless, still an outstanding product. (Posted on 11/5/12)

I ordered this station 08/20/2012 and they shipped it fast! I first read some reviews before buying. If you're contemplating about getting one don't worry go ahead and buy it because it's real nice! I'm really please with mine! I bought this model because it comes with an AC adapter and it has the blue backlighting which you can trun on or off when you want to. Working great!! (Posted on 9/2/12)

  53. Seems To Have It All Review by Fussy Customer
    Value

The Acu-Rite 01500 Wireless Weather Station has been installed and in use for 5 weeks now and I am very happy with the overall performance. The one part that could be improved is the clarity of the 'weather ticker'. It seems to be a bit fuzzy and one needs to get to the right and look at an angle to read the scrolling ticker easily. All the weather functions perform as expected and appear to be very accurate. I like the feature on the ticker of knowing what the low and high for the day/week/month was, and how many days without rain. The perfect item for the weather buff.

This is an excellent Weather Station for the price, only paid $105 for it online. I have had it for about 7 months now working fine, only thing that I don't like is the dew point readings are usually off other than that it works great (Posted on 7/29/12)

Just installed today. Unit is mounted on a six foot 4x4 in the middle of my garden and at a distance of 170 feet from the house. So far so good and signal strength is a full 4 - bars! Time will tell as to how long it will last. Everything works great so far. I like the simple and easy to install design of this unit. Looks great out in the backyard. Paid only $99.00 at my local Lowe's! (Posted on 7/25/12)

Eveything works great and accurate to everything else everyone else is reporting about me. One question did anyone notice that the wind direction instrument is offset and does not spin as free as the wind speed instrument. It does not seem to affect the reading of direction but I was wondering if it got bent in shipping or if it was designed like that. (Posted on 7/13/12)

  59. Great features Review by James
    Value

I got tired of my La Crosse variants around here flaking out and I've been lurking here and elsewhere trying to decide which weather station to get as far as low cost but good units go. Lowes had a good price on the 1515 and it was in stock so I picked it up Sunday.
It picked up the 5-1 right away and has max signal even about 30 feet away and through my whole small house..... I do really like the weather ticker feature and the current rain total per event is nifty too. I also like that they include a small fan for the temp sensor hidden inside the 5-1 as most makers charge extra for that feature.
It seems to track temp pretty close to my working wired Lacrosse so far and I'm sure the rain totals will be better as both units have had issues with that function. (Posted on 5/3/12)

  60. Very Nice Product Review by Chuck a.
    Value

My 8" Professional Digital Weather Station has been up for about 4 months now. All features function as advertises and are very accruate. Was easy to put up and took less than 20 minutes to place it about 10' above the grauge roof. The receiver is located about 100' from the station with three walls between the two and reception is a strady 4 out of 4 possible. Living near Lake Michigan the temp and wind direction and speed are often different from the offical recording station so it is nice to know what the weather information is at my house. Great Product. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment. (Posted on 4/20/12)

  61. 01500 WOW Review by Rich
    Value

I bought the “01500 WeatherStation” in February. The 01500 was mounted on a fence post for a month. All the readouts seemed logical. I just had to test the anemometer to see how it compared to my speedometer.
My GPS and speedometer and the 01500 all agreed at 30, 40, and 50 MPH. Wow! I trusted the 01500 at lower speeds. Besides, I did not like to be seen driving around a long time with this goofy setup. The breakaway friction on the anemometer is extremely low and gives readouts down to 1 MPH, when I cannot feel the breeze. . Now that it passed the speed test I may mount it on a 20 foot pole away from thehouse and barn.

A few years ago I installed two Davis Pro2 weather stations at work. I prefer the 01500 for ease of installation. Also the display on the 01500 has all the information I want constantly shown. I don’t have to search through a menu to find information. For $123 I’m impressed.

    I'm happy. (Posted on 4/3/12)

Just bought and set up, just added batteries, mounted the sensor and it was ready to go.
The sensor unit's base fits on a one inch diameter pipe, two brackets and it was mounted to the side of the garage, only took a few minutes. The readings are very close to what the TV is reporting, so far I'm very happy with this unit. Keep up the good work, highly recommended. (Posted on 3/17/12)

  64. Nice system but hate the rain feature Review by jonjonbear
    Value

I really like the system for the most part but the rainfall part will display total rainfall, monthly rainfall and "rainfall even" which seems to reset fairly quickly. I would like to know how much rain I have had for the day, not how much I have had just since the rain started falling. When I left for work it showed .15" and when I got home, .09". I got it for a gift from my better half for Valentines Day as I am a buff for the local weather other than relying on internet instruments that I got for Christmas or TV. It was so easy to set up just follow the instructions. All I had to change was the inside temperature so I followed the instructions and adjusted the temp 1 degree. This is the best instrument I have ever had. Beats the rest of the competition. ENJOY (Posted on 2/15/12)

It's been 3 months and I'm very impressed with the weather station. The sub zero temps have had no effect on the performance and all functions work as advertised. I'd suggest using lithium AA's in the outdoor sensor.
My original sensor failed, however a quick exchange at my nearest Lowe's solved that issue. Amazingly, The 'Forecast' feature has outsmarted my local weathermen again and again! (Posted on 2/2/12)

  72. Battery Hog Review by Cap-N-Stan
    Value

Just replaced my Model #00992 Pro Weather Station (radio xmter failed after 3 years) with the Model #01500. Both of these feature rich units are well designed and function as advertised. As a returning customer I find both excelent units have one glaring omission. They use an excessive amount of alkaline batteries (10 for the 01500 and 7 for the 00992). My past experience has been that the alkaline batteries last for 45-60 days and are difficult to replace. A better option would be to use rechargable batteries (last for 5 years) utilizing the solar panel and 120v power supply to keep them fully charged. (Posted on 12/1/11)

It is mostly good but the "Wind Chill/Heat index/Feels Like Temperatures" are way off.
