Bought this unit to monitor outdoor temperature and humidity so I could determine how well misting systems would work in my area of the country. Without this unit I was just guessing at the humidity levels at various times of the day. Now, when anyone complains about how high the humidity is, I can tell them that it's not all that bad. People tend to think the humidity is always higher than it really is.

We put this thermometer in our greenhouse to monitor the temperature and humidity from inside our house. Perfect readings! Saves us a lot of time and energy from having to go out and check the greenhouse.

Hygrometer very accurate Review by Garcia, West Mich

At first it seemed that the hygrometer was inaccurate. This was based on comparing my local weather station readings online. The problem is that relative humidity is highly variable and can change greatly depending on many factors, including the amount of grass, other greenery, soil moisture content, etc. The true way to test the accuracy is to determine the wet bulb temperature in your immediate vicinity. Along with the temperature, you can calculate what the relative humidity should be. After trying this, I found that accuracy of the hygrometer to be as described on the package (+-5%).
