good for the few months it works... Review by michelle
Current on my second one from AcuRite...the first one did not even last the season while the replacement was a newer design that did not allow for the same seepage into the battery area of the floating sensor.

However, the replacement unit also gave up the ghost within a matter of months. I am not seeing evidence of water in the display that has been described on some other forums, but even with fresh batteries in both the floating unit and the base unit plus a reset to a different channel, there is no display nor is there communication between the two units.

tl;dr: expect to pay the ~$30 each season on this one. (Posted on 9/11/14)
Works great when it's working Review by Steve
Problem is the first one I purchased lasted a little less than a year and the it stopped transmitting the temp. To their credit, Accurite replaced it even though I didn't have the receipt. This spring, the replacement did the same, again after almost a year. I bought a third one in March from home Depot and now less than 3 months later I noticed moisture inside then lens and now today it's showing 32 degrees again though I know the temp has to be in the upper 70s. It's going back to Home Depot. I need to have a dependable pool temp. I called accurite earlier after my second one went bad, and they said they no longer were making the model. I'm hoping they fix the problems soon, because I have several Accurite products that I've had no problem with and would buy something in their product line again. (Posted on 5/18/14)
Simply the BEST Review by William
Large readout display makes it a real winner. Simple to use..put the batteries in and place sensor in the display inside your house. It doesn't get any easier than that. (Posted on 4/3/14)
Awesome Review by John
I consider my Acurite water temperature sensor and receiver one of the most useful tools in my pool care arsenal. With Acurite's sending unit in the pool (365 days a year) I never have to leave my living room to know whether there's danger of freezing in winter or whether the water is inviting me for a summer dip. Imagine, never having to walk out to the pool, fish a wet thermometer from the water, don your reading glasses if you're over 40 and check the temperature. The large easy to read indoor display is always there for you and, as a bonus, the sending unit also displays the temperature. Nicely done Acurite! (Posted on 6/14/13)
Absolutely Perfect Review by New York Life
I wanted a remote pool thermometer and found the Acu-rite product at Home Depot at an extremely reasonable price. The unit was out of the package and in operation literally within 2 minutes. Works perfectly. So sorry I didn't find this before. (Posted on 4/20/13)
Very nice Review by Satisfied
Picked this up at Home Depot, took it home, and 3 minutes later we had it in the pool. Been looking for something like this since we moved into our new house. Works perfect. Will I still like it this much in a year? Hope so. (Posted on 12/9/12)
Saved a ton Review by Roger
My pool company wanted me to pay close to $800 to put in an automated readout mechanism so I could check my water temperature in house. I refused to pay that, and about two years later came across this product at Home Depot. It seemed to be the answer to what I was looking for. I was surprised how easy it was to set up from removal from box to actual use (less than two minutes). It's worked perfectly ever since and lets me check my spa temperature inside my house while it's warming up so I don't have to keep going back and forth guessing how warm it is. It's been perfect. Awesome product. (Posted on 9/3/12)
Great product/ GREAT customer service Review by Raymond
We bought this unit from our local Home Depot in 4/12, we recently had issues with it staying connected with the receiver inside. Called tech support to try and figure out how to fix and they are sending an entire replacement set up. I would highly recommend this product and company. I now know what to get my sisters for x-mas for their pools. (Posted on 7/16/12)
Great price for a remote pool thermometer Review by Bill
I found tube thermometers inconvenient and hard to read so I purchased this digital thermometer. Not only can I easily see the temperature at the pool, but can get the temperature remotely in our home. Now I easily judge whether I need to heat water or remove solar cover. Found two brands of remote sensor pool thermometers but this one was about $10 less. Also, while not a big feature to me, it keeps track of historical temperatures for past several days. It's much more expensive than a conventional pool thermometer; however, the convenience and accuracy is well worth the price. (Posted on 6/20/12)
Great Idea Review by Tom
I like the idea of being able to read mu pool temperature without having to pick up a thermometer, or being able to read it from inside the house. However, my unit failed before the first set of batteries died. The enclosure didn't seal very well and I was afraid to put too much torque on the screws. The company is sending me a new one, so I hope the new one has a better seal. It would be nice just to have a separate compartment for nickle cadmium batteries and incorporate a small solar panel on top of the unit. This way the owner would never have to open the main unit. I would happily pay more for that type of unit. (Posted on 3/10/12)
Great product! Review by Leslie
I am thanking you for mailing me (Sales Order 505865)a
replacement wireless sensor for your 00617 pool and spa thermometer. It
was paired with an existing main unit and the unit works great. My
congratulations to your engineering staff for allowing the installation
of the batteries without having to remove the five screws and then
having to reassemble and seal. The soft seal on the new battery
enclosure was a much needed improvement. I thank you again for the
replacement unit!! I am going to recommend to the Torrance, Ca Home
Depot that they make available this product. It is the greatest! (Posted on 7/6/11)
