Weather station with jumbo screen: right out of the box, the outdoor temperature sensor failed, causing the display to read -40 degrees F within seconds of setting the unit up. And when I changed the display to C, it stil read -49 degrees F. A brief search revealed that this is a common problem that many have experienced. Acurite prescribed a hard reset procedure. A waste of time. Tried it three times, still -40 defrees here in Maryland. A terrible product. How can a company sell a product so clearly defective and remain in operation?
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. We did try to reach out to you at the email address associated with your www.AcuRite.com account. We are happy to assist you with your weather station.
I was given this unit as a Christmas present last year and it was going through batteries like crazy. I wrote a very unfavorable review on it and figured that was it.
The company actually called me and I told them that I did not have proof of purchase because of it being a gift. They had me pack it up and send it to them anyway. They kept me updated on the process of checking the unit out and ended up sending me a new unit.
The new unit has worked flawlessly and has been very conservative with battery usage.
It is so refreshing to have a company that still cares about their customers and their products.
We had an acuRite weather station for about 10 years and the outdoor sensor finally gave out (probably from rain, snow). I ordered one from the site and received it, but could not get the outdoor temp to display. After much frustration and threats I called your customer service. I had a very nice polite gentleman (sorry forgot his name) but he understood my problem. He walked me through the steps again - told me to wait until the outdoor sensor flashed 3 times and the put my batteries into the unit. WaaLaa it worked. He stayed on the line until I checked to be sure it would stay connected when the unit was placed outside. I really appreciate your company for having a great product and a great support staff. I would recommend this company for any weather station that they were looking for. You won't be disappointed.
Love the look, quality and accuracy of this product. Highly recommend.
I wrote a review previously complaining about the batteries draining on my Jumbo Display Weather Station. I want to revise my earlier comments and rating based on the OUTSTANDING support I received from Jennifer in AcuRite's customer service group. She got right on top of the situation and most impressive since this wasn't an expensive item. From Jennifer's first contact with me, it was obvious that she was taking this issue seriously and that the company valued my business. She helped me try a few different approaches to see if the problem could be resolved. When it was apparent that I would have to send it in for an analysis, she took the extra step by agreeing to replace the unit to save time and I didn't even have to ask. I am now a true fan of AcuRite as I know they stand behind their products and have a support person like Jennifer. I recently purchased AcuRite's My Backyard Weather Slate Finish Clock since I know they value me as a customer. Jennifer ROCKs- AcuRite is fortunate to have her as a great representative of the company.
I purchased a cheap c
Chinese weather station from e-bay, the outside sensor lasted 2 weeks before dying. The indoor unit used 3 AA batteries every week just to keep the screen viewable. Now in the trash, I purchase the AcuRite Weather Station and it's great. The two week learning period is over and it really does do as advertised. BUT you must wait out the two week learning period before it's 99.9% correct. Battery life is still u in the air I've had it 4 weeks and still on my first set of batteries... yeah!
The first one had a bad outside unit reading crazy tempts.so i took it back to lowes and got another one.The new one has been working fine now for a week so iam happy with this product so far.
I purchased the Weather Station model 75077A3. I am very disappointed with the poor illumination of the product as I have to be directly in front of the unit (and at the same level) to read the recorded data.
Initially, the unit was displaying incorrect outside temperatures. I had placed the sensor outside under the covered patio with no direct sunlight as instructed. Later the outside temperature reading was 105 degrees when the actual temperature was approximately 88 degrees as indicated on the Outdoor Clock, model 02418A1SB, that I had also purchased and placed on the outside covered patio. The temperature readings on the Outdoor Clock are consistently close to the reported temperatures on the local TV and internet weather.
The next day I placed the sensor within three feet of the Outdoor Clock. Later that day, the Weather Station outside temperature reading was 103 degrees versus the Outside Clock reading of 85 degrees.
On the third day, I placed the sensor on the front porch again with no direct sunlight. The readings on the Weather Station now consistently read 4 to 5 degrees higher than the Outdoor Clock located on the back patio.
The Weather Station inside temperature reading consistently reads 3 to 4 degrees higher or lower than the thermostat which is located down the hall about 30 feet from the location of the unit.
I rate the Weather Station a 2 out 5 but would not purchase again.
I am really pleased with this unit; but I wish it had Indoor/Outdoor Humidity included as well.
Great product... My only criticism would be that the contrast between the numbers and the background could be sharper the gray background makes it hard to read at some angles
Just activated my new weather station and it appears to functioning flawlessly. So much easier to read than the smaller versions and not crowed with too much information. Simple in appearance yet smart looking. Two thumbs up!
Everything is correct and works well but the digital readout is hard to read, it needs some kind of contrast control so the display can be adjusted and make it easier to read.
So easy to read and accurate. View it daily. Updates the time itself. Have 3 for various locations. Bullet proof when we dropped it as well.
This is by far the best Atomic Clock/Digital Temp Instrument I have purchased. The set up is straight forward and it has worked flawlessly since I starred using it. It may just have a generic LCD display instead of the fancier color ones found on some other others - both more and less expensive - but it simply works better, and that is the important thing.
The only improvement this product needs is a display that can be read in the dark from across a room. The wireless range is excellent, an important feature. Goes through walls in modern construction. Outside remote designed resist weather damage. Easy to set up. Easy to use.
This is a great unit that I purchased from 3rd party retailer in 03/2008, noticing that I paid $34.97 back then and they want $54.99 from this site. I would say a major concern for these things is battery use, I bought another smaller one (different company?) the same day and that one seems to use batteries faster which makes it blink annoyingly. I would, and am contemplating buying another one for another room of the house. Just don't want to pay an additional $20 (plus shipping) if I don't have to. Otherwise excellent product!
I've had the unit (purchased at Lowe's) in use at my home for over a year now with no problems at all. It works perfectly. I did replace the batteries in the remote sensor and in the display unit after they had been in service for one year. Still going strong, accurate in time and temperature (indoor and outside). I would highly recommend this unit.
Just got mine installed a few hours ago, everything is working as it should except I show no signal strength at all with the Atomic Clock Reception Indicator. 4 bars with the outside temp indicator. Will wait until in the morning to see if it changes overnight.
It works very well, and is very easy to set up and use. I own four weather stations (i'm a gadget nut), and this one was the easiest to use by far. The LCD display panel is nice and big, so consequently the sizeable numbers are easy on the eyesight. Accuracy is on par with one of my more expensive, 'higher end' LaCrosse Technology weather units, which is reassuring. For accuracy, my remote outdoor sensor unit is placed on an outdoor bedroom window sill between the screen and window on a shady side of the house. This way, there is enough outdoor air circulating around the sensor unit to help insure accuracy. Also, I really like the fact that the unit also constantly displays minimum and maximum temperatures for the day right next to the current indoor and outdoor temps. The packaging and instruction manual were also top-notch. Nice graphics on the box, and no twist ties to undo, or blister packs to rip open. Just unscrew the 2 plastic holders on the back of the box, and tear aside the cardboard surrounding the unit encased in easy to remove plastic. Ingenious, and convenient for the consumer- more companies should package like 'Acu-Rite'! I highly recommend this weather unit, and feel it is one of the best 'bang per buck' units available for the price I got it for.
love the devise, but one problem. owned about 5 years and main sensor went blank. changed all batteries, still blank, called acurite, and told life of unit is 2-7 years. don't know if i read that in instructions. be aware, life of unitsare not that long. still, it's a good product.
Bought this acurite weather station at a lowes building center. very easy to set up.
great reception with the transmitter, i live in apartment so the transmitter has to go through many walls to reach the weather station. the weather station is top notch with the time date and temp. the forecast is extremely accurate with very minimal unaccurate readings, and i would rate the accuracy with the forecast at about 95%
Overall great job Accurite! very impressed. I would recommend this station to anyone.
I got this as a house warming present 5 years ago. I am using the original batteries. This is one of those items we take for granted until we need them. I look at mine first thing in the morning so I know how to plan my outdoor activities, and last at night to see what the high/low was for the day. I would have to rate this weather station a 10 out of 10 because I am totally satisfied. I am on this site today looking for a second one to mount in my master bathroom.
I looked at several mini weather stations, and this offered the best blend of features and size. It's not fully-featured with regard to measurements, offering only the basics (time, inside/outside temp, day/date and forecast). But the size is such that all the data are readable from a few feet away, making it perfect to hang on the wall. Others I've tried had so much info that you could only read it if you were very close to the unit (and even then some were hard to read). No legibility problems with this whatsoever.
Zero problems with set-up, with the remote unit transmitting to the main unit within a few moments of putting in the batteries. It also provides a signal strength meter for both the outside sensor and the atomic clock, so you can try out various positions to see which gives the best signal path. I positioned the outside sensor about 50 feet away without any loss of signal strength.
Temperature accuracy is spot-on. The min/max feature is very useful. I wish it offered humidity readings as well, but can live without that to keep the screen uncluttered and easy to read.
The forecasting feature is pretty accurate. It misses now and again, but for the most part, it provides an accurate (if only a general) forecast of what will occur over the next 12 to 24 hours. Much more accurate than similar forecasting devices I've used from La Crosse.
My only complaint is with the external sensor. It uses 4 rather tiny screws that have to be removed/replaced to change out the battery. You have to do this with care using the right size screwdriver or you'll strip the screws. Also, the mounting options for the sensor are limited (just a keyhole type hanger). The one good thing about the La Crosse units is that the external sensor comes with a better hanger and an easier to open battery compartment.
Those quibbles aside, this is an excellent, easily legible unit that is highly recommended.
I received this wireless weather station a few days ago. Set up was easy and quick. Even though it has a "14 day learning" mode, the device has been pretty accurate. I live with elderly parents and like that the icons and numbers are large and fairly easy to read. I only wish the instruction manual included a short description for the different forecast pictures/icons. Because it doesn't, I'm giving this product 4 instead of 5 stars. :)
This product works as advertised. You can't ask for more than that. Very handy, easy to read and understand. and easy to set up, and I use the clock to set all the other clocks in the house. If it breaks I will buy another one.
I love this weather station. The outdoor high/low is great for plants and a reminder to "let the faucet drip" overnight. Now when my wife asks me what is the house temperature set on, I just point to the weather station. You have saved me a lot of talking! Carry On!
An excellent product. I mounted it on the wall by the tv (but far enough away from it), therefore I look at it often. Works great!
I love this Device it works great not one problem with it. I have owned it for over a year and it always works and is Acurite to the T. You should be carefull where you mount the outside transmitter because its not water prof. I wish the units that have the rain gauge had the big bold numbers because I would like to upgrade so I can have rain and humidity readings. I still love this unit.
I replaced the batteries in this today and can't get it to show the correct date. I have lost the original instructions. Help, please. Thank you.
We LOVE our wireless weather station and use it at our camp for accurate weather conditions. It has forecasted perfectly since we have had it.
I picked this unit up nearby retailer. It works very well, and is very easy to set up and use. The LCD display panel is nice and big, so the big numbers are easy on the eyes. My remote outdoor sensor is placed on a shady side of the house. This way, there is enough outdoor air circulating around the sensor unit to help keep it accurate. The packaging and instruction manual were also top-notch. Nice graphics on the box and just unscrew the plastic holders on the back of the box, and tear aside the cardboard surrounding the unit encased in easy to remove plastic. Convenient for the consumer - more companies should package like 'Acu-Rite'! I highly recommend this weather unit, and feel it is one of the best 'bang per buck' units available for the price I got it for.
This product does as advertised. The time is always correct, and the prediction of weather is excellent. Very happy knowing the low overnight temperature for my plants.
