Weather Station Display Instruction Manuals
This was a nice upgrade compared to the older non color display. I really liked the ac adapter with battery backup. The only negative is you can't manually set the barometric pressure. You have to reset the display when your local actual pressure is 29.92 in.HG to have an accurate reading.
Easy to set up and no problems connecting with the 5-1 sensor. Needs to have a auto dim or low light setting as the display is to bright at night. The ticker tape is cute but kind of useless. For a really good review see what Rick wrote, I agree with what he had to say. I have not hooked up the pc connect as of yet. The range seems to be about 75' when going through walls.
I put in batteries, plugged it in and the unit automatically connected with the 5 in 1 unit outside. It has an on/off backlight which is a big plus since I bought two units; one in the Den and another in the bedroom. At night it lights the room up; good nightlight or turn the light off if you need a dark room for sleep.
Nice and bright, easy to read display.
I like everything about the display except for the optimal viewing angle. As long as you are looking down at the display, all of the numbers are dark colored and clear. When your eyes are below the level of the display, the numbers are muted and indistinct. I have my display slightly above my line of sight and can barely read the numbers. They seem to fade into the background. I would move the display, but there is no better place on my computer desk.
I still give it five stars because of the convenience of having so much weather information in such a small space.
It's not perfect, but overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
It's been installed four months now.
As a weather station it works well.
As a weather forecaster, it's absolutely worthless (it always says 99% chance of rain here in sunny San Diego).
- 01036 Display
- Extra temperature/humidity sensor (see note)
Note: The 5-1 and other sensors talk to the display and/or bridge. The display does NOT talk to the bridge.
The display has a barometric sensor and indoor temperature/humidity sensor.
The bridge has a barometric sensor to report pressure. It does NOT have a built temperature/humidity sensor. You will need to buy an additional (~$20) sensor if you want to remotely monitor the temperature inside your house.
- Setup and installation was straightforward.
- Community support forum is very helpful. Employees monitor and chime in so you get pretty much instant or next (business) day help.
- The alarm features are neat, but have quirks that make some useless (see wind alert con below). The display will beep (see con below) or you can send yourself a text.
- The ticker-tape on the display, eh. Not a con, but I'd almost rather scroll through a menu of information when I want it rather than wait for it to come by. What's the max wind this month? Wait, wait... is it coming...?
- Barometric auto-calibrate not having an over-ride ability is the biggest fault. I waited 30 days for it to calibrate "close, but wrong", when I could have simply set it and forget it. They have a patent on the auto calibrate. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...
- Forecast always-always says its 99% going to rain (in San Diego lol).
- Some weird quirks are not explained. For instance, most things (high/low temp) reset per day. Rain resets "per event", with the unit deciding when the rain is over. I've had days where it rained three times, but it reset in between, so I couldn't figure a total for the day.
- Display has no contrast setting, so viewing angle is limited (can't read it well from "below").
- Display has some annoying quirks (can't take it completely out of setting mode. It sits there saying, "Set Units?")
- Display backlight should detect ambient lighting and dim accordingly
- Phone support access is non-existent. There is a community-forum for help, which employees monitor and chime in on, so you pretty much get instant or next (business) day help.
- The display alarms beep until you acknowledge them. I wish they would quit after some (user selectable?) time. I had to turn ALL of mine off after coming home and having my wife say, "that **** thing has been beeping ALL day and is driving me CRAZY!", when the humidity dropped below 15%...
I currently have a 5 in one weather station with the black and white display. Wanted a display in my office. This display for only $10 more was a great addition and is very bright and easy to view.
This display is very bright and easy to see. Only complaint is that the LCD display is tough to view from side angles.
It allows you to set your custom alerts and what modules you would like to track.
I received this and I like the new look and design better than the older version.
This display is very easy to read unlike the non color display. Set up is very easy anyone can do it. Ps the help when calling in is very good they know the products android they speak English!
I had the older monochrome version that came with the weather station but it was difficult to see. So last month when there was a sale I purchased the color version and what a difference it makes! Easy to read, and beautiful, no longer ugly sitting on the piano and now I put the old display in the bedroom, allowing me to see the weather as soon as i wake up in the morning.
I really like this display module over the older ones. Very easy to see. Only complaint is that the LCD display is very sensitive to the angle from which you are viewing. If the unit is on a table across the room from you, sitting in a chair positions you in an angle that leaves the display blank. Perhaps that could be improved but still a very good upgrade.
Really like the new 1036RX display. Great sight lines even across the room. Easy to program. Great upgrade.
Shipping was really fast... I bought the color unit to replace my original blue faced monitor. Much easier to read, took me about 5 minutes to hook it up. thanks for a great product up-grade!
Shipping, delivery and installation went well as expected. The unit immediately sensed the 5in1 sensor. Numbers and sections are much easier to read. The cost is a bit high (70% of what I paid for the whole 1515 system) but that generally occurs when buying individual parts afterwards. In this instant gratification world, it might seem to some that a two-three day wait for a support question resolution is a bit much. But I am anxiously awaiting why the dashboard does not yet accept the MAC address. Can only view HQ info on dashboard.
Great improvements over monotone models. Entire screen is now easier to read, including the weather ticker at bottom.
I really like this color monitor, I bought it on sale to replace the blue monitor that I already have, even though it is working well . The color one is easier to read at a glance and just plan looks real nice on my desk in the office .
Having the monitor display in Color makes it very nice to monitor outside conditions. Easy to use and setup. Only issue I have is adding a new unit means no data for rain until it occurs, so newer units are not in sync.
I've had this Color display for 3 days and I haven't been able to keep my hands off of it! I purchased this 1036RX Color display for its ability to connect to my PC and 01515 Weather Center. It's nice being able to download and save the weather conditions. My two older 01010 consoles also work with my 01515 Weather Center. I would recommend this add-on receiver to others.
I much prefer the color display over the B&W. True the numbers and lettering could be a little bolder, but that is not stopping me from giving it 5 stars.
This is an attractive monitor and is a much improved version of the standard blue version that comes with the 5 in one. Very bright and easy to read.
This is my second 5-1 unit. First being the B&W model and couldn't wait to get the color unit. Even though I love the product.. the black print isn't bold or deep enough to see unless you're 3 feet from the unit. You can see the color boxes but not the print in it. The B&W unit I could see from across a 12' room but not the color unit. Therefore I can not give it 5 stars. Even thought about sending it back but didn't think it was worth the hassle. So now I have to walk up to the unit to read it.
Display good but view angle could be larger. Excellent set up buttons, much better than old B&W touch screen
This product is far superior to the one that came with the 5 in 1.
Easy to read all weather info compared to the original product. Ticker on the bottom is a nice feature along with lighted panel ( back light ) that maybe kept on or off. Has alert features for high and low weather conditions ( wind, temp, rain and others ) with alarm you may set on or off.
I recommend this over other products offered.
Unit has a great display and the weather ticker is much easier to read than the previous model 1035. The local barometric pressure is still off by about ,20 but unit is still going through the learning process so we away for final comparison.
Received this about a week ago. It's much better than the display that came with the 5 in 1 weather station. It's larger and shows more information. It's also easier to read even without the backlight on. With light on, the display is bright, attractive, and easy to read. As someone else has said, leaving the light on for any length of time will artificially raise the inside temperature. I just turn it on when I want to view the display and off when I don't. The one interesting thing is that
I did not receive a display stand with the unit and had to call in to have one sent out. Since it came bubble wrapped without a retail package, the power supply separate also, I have a feeling these came from China separately and for some reason shipping forgot to include the stand. Acurite did send the stand quickly though. Great display. Love it!
Received my new color display today.installed the batteries, and power supply, hit reset all and in 2sec, i was getting a full signal.this is so much better than the other six displays that i have. the weather ticker is a lot easier to read as well. when i opened the box and removed the display, power supply, and usb cable, there was no stand for it to set on the table.called customer support and the guy i talk with said that he would have one box up and shiped to me in to working days.it can`t get any better than that.i new that this was going to be good, but this inpress me.will update after the learning peried.great job acu-rite.
The 1036RX display presents the Station information in a colorful manner much more readable then the original 1010RX display that came with my Station. Three issues are worth noting that are limitations to the functionality of the overall Station. First the Learning Mode. The algorithm in the 1010RX was terrible and never matches other barometers in our home or the local airport readings. Early on the algorithm in the 1036RX was great tracking local barometric pressure within .05 of the local. After several months of operation, however, the 1036RX has matched the value displayed by the 1010RX and both are low by .20. There is still no adjustment for this value. Next, the images on the website and other materials show the display with the backlight on all the time. This makes for a striking addition to wherever you place the display, however, leaving the backlight on for any length of time causes increased warmth inside the case. If you are monitoring indoor temperature and humidity, the temperature reading will rise based on this heating and the humidity reading well drop to the zero value of 16%. Lastly, Acu-Rite has still not listened to the many negative comments they have received concerning the Rainfall Event Counter. Daily Rainfall is much more useful and conforms with all locally reported values. Displaying this value as Yesterday Total in the Records section would allow a look-back comparison.
Like all the information in one display and the ticker @ the bottom. However the display does not allow contrast adjustment which, makes difficult viewing of the weather information if not viewing the display straight on.
Purchased this color unit after problems viewing my B & W unit that came with my 5 in 1. Difference of night and day. Well done AcuRite! Worth the wait.
I returned the 1035 unit that I originally purchased because the display was hard to read, and the ticker was impossible to read. Acu rite customer support was outstanding, 6 stars, if I could rate them that high. They replaced my 1035 with the 1036rx, what a difference!
The color display is amazing. The display screen setup is easy to read and the ticker is also a lot easier to read.
Thanks Acu Rite
A very satisfied customer.
Just revived my display today and it looks awesome a lot better than the black plan one. Hooked up one two three to my weather station. Looks very nice in the house no more hidden the plan black one. Must have.
I got to say WOW!!! I have a whole batch of Acu-Rite product including the 1500 5 in 1 sensor with the blue backlite 8" display, an extra 5 in 1 sensor that I bought this color display for, the acu-link internet bridge and Digital Weather Station plus Portable Weather Alert NOAA Radio. When I put the two 8" displays next to each other, the color display makes the year old blue backlite display look like something out of the dark ages. There is no comparison. Even the ticker at the bottom of the color display is easy to read now. I recommend 100%.
Simple to set up and works great.
I originally bought a 5-in-1 weather station that had a 1035 display. I was able to return the display to Acurite shortly after purchase due to the "Weather Ticker" display being nearly impossible to read (it has a extremely limited viewing angle). The Customer Service Rep I spoke with agreed to replace the 1035 display with the 1036RX color display. The color display is a serious upgrade. It it very impressive looking, and the "Weather Ticker" is A LOT better. If you're looking to buy a new 5-in-1 unit with a display, get the one with the color display (8" Pro Color Digital Weather Station with PC Connect 01036 (351543)). if you just want an add on display, the 1036RX is the way to go!
Side note: when I took the batteries out of the "old" display and put them in the new one, all I had to do was switch the channel to "A" and it almost instantly began reading my 5-in-1. That's a good thing, because it is mounted outside on my roof at about a total height of 25'. That saves me from having to get the ladder out until I have to change the batteries!
Great job, Acurite!
