The Sci-Port Discovery Center in Shreveport, Louisiana was re-opened to the public in October 2018 after many renovations in 2017 and 2018. On March 15th, 2019, the KTBS weather exhibit officially opened with the grand ribbon-cutting ceremony. The KTBS weather team broadcast the event live on-air. See the full story from KTBS here.
With the opening of the weather exhibit at Sci-Port, AcuRite donated the new AcuRite Atlas weather station with lightning detector to the exhibit. They decided to install the station indoors, mounted next to the display with the exhibit for demonstrations and learning purposes.
Schools, community members, and families can visit the exhibit to learn about weather and why local weather data can help keep your loved ones safe during severe weather events. Here’s the latest school that visited the exhibit with a fun weather day event hosted by KTBS meteorologist Joe Haynes.
