I have come to enjoy it. my other sensors are of the colored 1036 variety. those I would sometimes turn off at night because of brightness. with the dark theme sensor, because of the dimmer automation, I no longer worry about brightness. it took me awhile to get use to viewing it because the different functions are lined up different than the afore mentioned 1036 that I used for years. highly recommended. enjoy
Unit arrived with a broken housing but Acurite replaced it with no issues. The unit itself is great for a bedroom where you dont want a bright light on all night as in the non dark models. I love the look. I just wish there were easier ways to contact support other than calling or complaining in a review. Chat and Email would be great.
Delighted with this display. Far more legible than the 01500A1 which it replaced. Plug-and-Play with my existing 1-in-5 sensor was seamless. Also pleased to find, since my display is wall-mounted, with the power adapter lead fed through the wall for a no-wires look, that you maintained the same hanging slot-to-wiring slot relationship. Good thinking!
Very happy with this screen. Read a lot of reviews about the other screen being so bright and glad I decided on this screen instead.
I wanted another color display to place in my bedroom and decided on trying this 'dark theme' display in hopes that it would not be as bright as the other display I rcv'd with my 5 in 1 weather station. Arrived quickly and am very happy that as I had hoped, the screen is no where near as bright as the other ... perfect for me in my bedroom. Works well and no problems with signal strength/reception.
The LCD screen is bright and clear. I don't find the banner helpful really, but no biggie. The number of batteries this takes is kind of crazy, though. Would be nice if there was an option for 9V, instead of the 6 x AA.
I purchased the 5 n 1 weather station and it came w/ this screen. It sync'ed with the station in seconds, but failed w/in 24 hours. Screen went black and would not "revive". Obviously under warranty, so this is my 2nd unit. It's been up for a few weeks now, hopefully we'll get years out of it!
My original unit had dimmed and was difficult to read. I got this and I really like the layout and vivid colors. I don't need to find my glasses to read the rainfall any more.
I really like this display!
In general it is a good display, but AcuRite really need to do something about the tiny angle in which you can actually read the display. You cannot hang the thing on a wall and expect to read it from a seated position from an angle unless you hang it below your line of sight. SO I have it hanging about 3.5 feet off the floor. I would like to hang it a few feet higher. Also side-to-side visibility is only good if your eyes are about level with it. As soon as you are looking down or up at the display, the side-to-side viewing angle is reduced dramatically.
Also the barometric pressure indicator arrow is basically useless. I have only seen it move once or twice in 4 months where my other black and white display arrow has more "steps" and moves all the time, giving a useful indication of rising or falling barometric pressure. This one only has 5 steps, and apparently you need to be in the eye of a hurricane for it to move from level. The support person said this was designed this way on purpose. I guess you get a downgrade when paying more for a color display.
AcuRite only like to publish good reviews. This will probably never see the light of day unless I give it 4 stars or above. They wouldn't publish my 3 star review.
This was a replacement I purchased for a prior 5-in-one display that failed after 14 months (just out of the warranty period). So far it is very attractive, connected easily, and does the job.
I will remain skeptical for now as to the longevity of this unit. So far I have had to replace my internet bridge (warranty, but took 2 months), the 5-in-one sensor (out of warranty, my $$), and the previous color monitor (out of warranty, my $$). I.e. every component has failed after a relatively short period of time. I have found AcuRite Customer Service agents to be less than helpful, and less than knowledgeable about the products that they represent.
In short, I will update this review in a few months. Fingers crossed.
Very easy to install. Essentially plug and play if your exterior station is set up and operating. Setting the various clocks and things much easier than the last models.
This is the bomb of indoor feedback on a weather station. I have had it almost two weeks now and just love it. I am glad that they have stepped up the game of indoor displays. The one that originally came with my weather station was the biggest piece of junk ever. I really wish they would have stepped up and replaced it under warranty since it was so bad. i bit the bullitt and bought this one since I already had the internet bridge and the outdoor weather station. The graphics on this are incredible and the accuracy is great. I am still waiting for it to totally learn the relative pressure but that should happen any day now. The auto dim feature is great. The only negative might be tat viewing off angle is not very clear. Other than that I would highly recommend this unit. I just hope I get some long term use out of it unlike the other indoor unit that was pretty much worthless from day one. Overall they seem to be a very good company with great products and helpful support people.
Like the new display
Very nice addition to my 5 in 1 weather sensor. Dark back-lit screen is great for viewing in darker conditions without flooding the room with light at night. Auto-dim feature addresses various light conditions throughout the day. Nice history feature and scroll at the bottom to indicate highs and lows of temps, humidity, wind, etc. Takes 4-6 AA batteries (can't remember how many without looking) that serve as a backup in case it looses AC power or it unplugs accidentally. Very glad I made this purchase.
Nice compact unit with pleasing interface. Easy to use and program. Dark bag
