Color Weather Station Display with PC Connect 06039

PRO+ 5-in-1 Weather Sensor 06014

AcuRite PC Connect Instruction Manuals

  1. Model 06039M review by jeff on 5/6/2016

I have over 10 different Acurite weather stations and I would say that this model - with color is the best one Acurite has made. It appears like Acurite was listening to what features I was looking for. I haven't connected this model to a computer yet -- waiting for the new software that is coming out . I gave it 4-stars - I still would like to be able to turn light off when I go to bed -- Ambient model has this option. The weather ticker was freezing - however looks like its working now . This was what I was expecting in the 02032C model -- the 06039M model is what am lookin for - for the money it competes with the more expensive brands -- like Davis .....

  2. Great price, easy to setup and excellent data collection review by Sugar Magnolia on 4/4/2016

I got this unit for my weather obsessed tween son for a Christmas gift. I was slightly intimidated by the installation but it was far easier than I had anticipated. For accurate results the outdoor sensor needs to be mounted at least 5 feet off the ground and preferably much higher.

The software installation was easy and it didn't take long before we were connected to the unit. At that point you have to choose whether to stream your data to Acurite or Wunderground, both is not an option. Acurite didn't seem to be working at the time and I've since gotten email that says they are aware and working on the problems. It seems that high holiday sales caused some server stability issues on their site. I am very pleased with the data and personal website at Wunderground and likely won't switch even when they get the Acurite site fixed, but will probably try it out. Using Wunderground you can track all your data, follow other weather station users, and much more. I also have the settings so that all data is stored in a single file in my PC.

The indoor display unit is colorful and uses batteries for back up but also needs to remain plugged in for the backlight to stay on. It is easy to use and displays temperature and humidity for both indoor and outdoor, wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure and rainfall. It also has a button to scroll through wind chill, dew point, heat index and high and low records for wind speed, temperature, and humidity.

The one drawback about this model is that you do have to leave your computer on all the time. I don't because the cats love to lay on the PC open 987,543,897 different tabs of Windows Help. If you don't leave the PC on constantly then it will upload data to your PC from when you were offline but Wunderground will show data for that time unavailable. You can also purchase an Internet bridge AcuRite 09150 AcuLink Internet Bridge: Monitor Temperature, Humidity and Weather Sensors from Anywhere on a Smart Phone, Tablet or Laptop that I believe will allow for updating when offline but possibly only to Acu-Rite which is still having issues. I would love to have the bridge, but it's not in the budget at this time.

Overall I feel it's a great unit for the price. You get a ton of data, it's easy to set up and use and not dependent on the Acurite site.

  3. High quality budget weather station. review by Bryan on 4/4/2016

For my situation installation went pretty fast. I attached the included mount to a 2x4, and attached the 2x4 to the peak of my fascia board. I used a aluminum mast (that I had) to raise it 11ft above my roof line. Approximately 30ft above the ground and pointed in the correct direction. (you might need a compass too)

After going on the website I downloaded Acurite connect and the drivers. Only after installing the software did I plug in the usb cable. I went to wunderground.com, created a account, put the log-in info and MAC address into the acurite software and I had my personal weather station streaming data online in minutes. I also log all the data to a .csv file. My computer runs 24/7 now, but I can enjoy seeing my weather station on the map.

The aspirated thermometer is a big bonus, BUT, from what I've read (not experienced) is that the aspirator doesn't always start fast enough (not enough solar power to start it) so folks were getting temp spikes when the sun hits the unit. Especially in south US with lots of exposed sun.. They sell the upgraded sensor (dual solar panels) for about $30, I just wish they had put the upgraded unit on this and sold it for a few dollars more. There is a ham radio guy out there who did some mods to his unit, which I though was neat, but not for your average guy. Also the included batteries (4 AA) are alkaline, which doesn't perform well in cold cold weather, and you need 7 AA's total -sensor and display. I would recommend buying some(4) quality lithium batteries if you experience lots of below freezing temps. I was so happy with this station that I went back and bought another one for a second display and backup sensor so when this one does go no worries, those anemometers only last so long, even the expensive ones..

Seems to be working pretty good, it takes 14 days for "learning mode". Maybe my barometer is correct now? Other much more expensive but similar stations have the option to set your altitude, after learning mode it seems to be very close to other local stations. Overall it's a great station for the money, I really wanted to buy one of the top name stations but this fit my needs.

    ** Update:
I've been enjoying this weather station on my desk for over a month now, and there are a few things that bug me.

Viewing angle, if you have to look upward toward this station you can not see the LCD numbers.

    Ticker, no option to customize

Rain gauge total display: always goes to yearly total, which is only as long as it's been since the memory has been wiped, we'll see how long in 2016 I can keep it going without having to reset it.

The backlight dimmer button no longer works. Currently to change the brightness of the backlight I can do one of two things, transmit on my ham radio, or unplug it then plug it back it. This device is very susceptible to HF radio frequencies even though it is a UHF system. It's kind of neat to watch it cycle through the dimming levels as I'm transmitting.

Also Wunderground doesn't receive the wind gust data.

I'd still buy two again even with the display issue.

  4. Worst weather station ever review by LEW on 3/5/2016

Worst weather station ever sold . My new weather station last week when a wind storm hit 126 klms blew apart in the wind parts every where .$189.98 GONE IN THE WIND. Don't buy this product its garbage.
