I was very happy with the way the station looks, but the thermometer was reading off by 5 degrees (as measured against the 2 electronic Stations I have, all purchased from Acurite via Amazon. I have the 5 in 1 color station and a black and white station, both which work well and I like very much). I tried to adjust the thermometer following the directions in the manual. The result was that the spring attached to the pointer, which would show the temperature broke off. Now the thermometer is useless. I would like to have the thermometer replaced, as the other instruments seem to be working fine. However, I do not know how to arrange a replacement for just the thermometer. I have not registered the station and I have misplaced the information I would need to do so, therefore I can't try to send it back. I would even be willing to pay for the thermometer gauge, though I shouldn't have to as it was clearly defective.
I am completely satisfied with the overall performance of my weather station.I find the wood framing attractive and pleasing to look at.The appearance goes well with any surrounding you could wish to hang it in.
I purchased this three-piece weather station mainly for the barometer.
The price of the set is less than most single barometers.
The inexpensive cost and the praise of the other two reviews drew me into a purchase.
So far I have not regretted my decision.
The barometer performs well, I have made a daily check of its readings, comparing it with that of the closest weather station. The two readings are in constant near agreement.
I plan to install the item on my sailboat. Barometers act as a warning of weather changes when a forecast might not be available. Strict accuracy here is not as important as the general trend that a series of reading might reveal.
The item is not designed for a marine environment, but I have my hopes that it will continue to perform well.
The item's diminutive size, when compared with similar weather stations, makes it ideally suited to the limited space available on board a sailboat.
The set has now been in use on my sailboat for several months, the instruments are working well. The item has lived up to my best expectations.
So far I'm very happy with this weather station. The readings compare almost identically to another weather station which costs 4x more. The only difference was the humidity reading; and I think my more expensive unit is wrong (and needs adjusting). I thought this unit was wrong (because it's cheaper) but I followed the directions to test the humidity, and it's working like it should. The barometer and temp matched my other unit perfectly. The barometer can be adjusted too if needed. I don't think the temp gauge can.
