My favorite weather phenomenon: Hail! It’s rare but happens about once or twice per year where I live in California. The picture below was from a storm on March 3rd 2018, that produced pea size hail for about 5 minutes. It was great and my toddler loved it! “Ice?” Such a California girl ;)

Thanks for the story
When I was a teenager we were visiting a beach on Lake Erie, Vermilion OH. There were dark clouds off to the east of us and we had fairly clear skies. My father came down to the beach and announced a tornado (water spout) was moving over Lorain OH (about 10 mi away). We then turned and could see the funnel about 3/4 of the way down from cloud to the lake. It then moved inland over Lorain and we lost sight. I don’t believe it ever touched down. I still have pictures of the storm in my head about 40 years later. Only tornado I have seen.
