Police Department Uses Weather Station Data

Sgt. Will Brents, UAMS Police Department |

The UAMS Police Department has added another level to its response and readiness capabilities. The department is now able to have accurate real-time weather data in its mobile command unit, thanks to a new AcuRite 5-in-1 Weather Station. This unit can be relocated anywhere on the campus or at UAMS locations around the state. Below is a picture of our latest setup for the communication technology for use by our mobile command center.  The tripod holds the AcuRite 5-in-1 wireless weather station, the TV antenna, and HAM radio antenna.

With the addition of this weather station, the UAMS Police Department can now have up-to-date weather data no matter where we establish a command post. The weather station display is located at the dispatcher’s desk inside the mobile command post, so information can be rapidly relayed to officers or other emergency personnel.  Please see our previous blog for details on how our AcuRite weather stations help us keep the campus and community safe with real-time weather data for severe weather tracking and emergency weather alerts.
