I’m back again with My AcuRite monthly weather recap for March. I think we can all agree that the weather was the last thing on our minds as the US started to feel the effects of a global pandemic. While we’re trying to stay content indoors, why not dig a bit deeper into our My AcuRite data? I know I did!
Last month Northern California started out warm with a gradual cooling trend throughout the month. My Atlas weather station reported a high of 82.6 degrees on March 4th, also on this day, a few locations around the Bay Area broke some records from the previous records set in 1959. How long ago was that? That was just four days before Barbie was introduced to the world at the American International Toy Fair in New York on March 9th, 1959!
These warm temperatures were quickly followed by cooler temperatures and some pretty constant rain showers throughout most of the middle of the month. While we appreciate the rain and mountain snow to reduce the risk of wildfire risk for 2020, the rain came about the same time the “shelter-in-place” orders were issued. I can tell you this family of four felt even more restricted in our small Bay Area house. My Atlas weather station reported a total of 1.85 inches of rain for the month, so we made sure to get out for some puddle jumping!
How does this compare to last year? I can view my historical Atlas data on Weather Underground. For March of 2019, I can see the high for the month reached 82 degrees on the 31st, with a rainfall total of 2.75 inches.
