Kari's April 2020 My AcuRite Weather Recap

Meteorologist Kari Strenfel |

Here in Northern California, we had a rainy start to the month, which helps keep the surrounding hills and vegetation green! We love spring rainfall here. The more rain the better which helps the state regulate and minimize wildfire risk.  My AcuRite Atlas™  weather station reported a monthly rainfall total of 1.86 inches, which a storm brought in from April 4th to the 6th.  By comparing my weather data to the nearby official NWS weather data, I can see we received a bit more rain than last April. While both April 2019 and April 2020 started with some spring showers – the rainfall totals were about an inch higher in April 2020.  If we’re lucky, we’ll get one more storm with rainfall before the hot and dry summer sets in.

My AcuRite April Rain report

After this quick storm came through, the region saw a warming and drying trend, with a handful of days reaching above 80 degrees F.  The high occurred on the 28th, and reached 87 degrees F.  The nearby Livermore airport reported 88 degrees on that day, which is 16 degrees above the normal high of 72 degrees F.
