Agree with all the positive reviews: it's now almost impossible for me to safely get on my roof. But since My 5 in 1 is mounted on the ridgepole, the extender only reached to the soffit of my roof, and so I still need to get on a ladder to replace batteries. It would be useful to have, as an option, longer cords between devices.
This is great, no more climbing to change batteries.
Now if only an easy way to clean out the rain gauge . . ..
Exactly what I wanted! No I do not have to get up on the roof, take the 5-in-1 down from its perch to replace the batteries!!!
Bad news? Waited while backordered for many weeks, then I ordered two extenders. But one was DOA.
Really great news? AcuRite sent out a replacement immediately (scheduled to arrive tomorrow: 170207).
Someone was thinking outside the box when this was developed. Use weather station at the beach on lifeguard shack where there is no power. This will make it easy to keep the station powered up. 5 stars.
Good product, now I do not need to climb a ladder to change batteries. One suggestion would be to have a wire connection at the battery holder so we could push the wire through a small hole and have the battery holder inside the house in a convenient location.
Great product. I have 2 suggestions though. Why not make this a converter from 110v with the batteries for back up? If you're going to all this trouble with wires, why not make this also a way to get the wireless signal closer to the bridge or display. My signal is always 'weak' because of the distance and the metal roof but this wired battery pack sits just a few unobstructed feet from my bridge. The signal could be 'strong'!
Battery changing is now completed without being on ladder/roof. The hardest part was to find a cable cover to protect the wire from roof peak, under eave and down outside siding. Recommend to support wire for its journey from station to preferred battery station location. My installation was on the west side and is exposed to summer heat/sun and winter wind/rain.
After relocating my 5/1 to a high and clear location for wind, I found the battery replacement to be uncomfortable to say the least. I relocated to a chimney mount 3ft above the house. Tall ladder required up to the deck and then onward to the 5/1. This enhancement solves this problem completely. I wondered if the 30 ft extension cable would cause the instrument to be more susceptible to low battery voltage issues which is regularly cited as an issue in general; however, I have not found that to be an issue. I couldnt be happier with this enhancement.
Wow. Now I do not have to lower my station from my 30' roof top mast just to change the batteries.
This was not an option with my Other brand station. I do not have to be concerned anymore with the possibility of damaging my station.
Avoids havibng to climb up on roof, a major factor for someone my age (88)
Nice product. It should make changing batteries much easier now that I don't have to drag out the ladder.
My only criticism of this product is the wire is attached at both ends. It would have been nice to have a connector at one end so the small gauge 30' wire could be passed thru a small hole in a building.
This is a great product for ease of installation and care.no more going up to the senser to replace battery's.keep up the good work.love it.
I had been looking at weather stations for some time. I came across a link that led me to your site. I liked what I saw. I selected a few items for my wishlist and done research on them. I chose the
Weather Environment System with PRO+ 5-in-1 Sensor & Display
Model: 01057RM .
It was a breeze to set up. I had no issues with the instructions or any problems in the operations of the unit. The internet bridge was not a problem either. Everything seems to be calibrated and working right out of the box. If you've been looking for a weather station, this one would be a great choice in my opinion.
It works as expected but there should be a solar option to keep the batteries charged.
Great addition to my 5 in 1 weather sensor makes battery changes so much easier and really helps when your handicapped allowing change of batteries down at ground level.
When I saw that Acurite had a Remote Battery Pack for my 5 in 1 Weather Station, I had no hesitation about ordering it. It was very easy to install just as described in the instructions. Now that it is powering my 5 in 1, I will no longer need to climb up my roof in the cold winter months to change my batteries; all that will be required is to pop open the Battery Pack and change them in the comfort of my home. It can't get any easier than that.
Thank you Acurite!!
I was going to build something like this wasn't going to be all that hard, but having 1 just plug in is way less work!
Only flaw in this product is that it's 1 piece. I wish you could unplug it from the battery side so you can drill a hole and run the wire inside. Lucky I'm a certified solder and (Yes voided warranty) I took it a part un-soldered the 3 wires drilled my holes and ran the wire inside. re-soldered the wires and mounted on the wall in my kitchen. Beautiful :)
This is a must have for the 5 in 1 sensor when you have placed it out of reach (like on a pole on top of the roof). Without this, I would not be able to change batteries when it snows, and it would be very inconvenient any other time. With the 30 foot remote battery pack, I am able to run the line to a closet in my house where I can change the batteries without going outside. Well worth the money!
Excellent!! My only regret is that I didn't purchase it when it first became available.
my 5-in-1 is mounted on a 6' pole on the top ridge of the garage. Having to get the extension ladder out and climb up there was not on my list of favourite things. The battery pack in mounted in the garage and will make changing batteries easy. will be excellent in the winter when it is well below zero and the garage roof is covered in snow.
Useless to me . Does anyone at your company know the meaning of "remote" -- the 30 ft cable is about half as long as I need. I may try to add length by splicing in more cable- probably impractical. I cannot go to the roof in winter because we receive around 15 ft of total snow here on a ridge in Utah (and I am 74 years age) Bob F
