AcuRite 80th Anniversary: Commemorative Products Have Arrived!

Help us celebrate the AcuRite 80th anniversary with these limited-edition products featuring reimagined designs, anniversary logos, and historical artwork.

Much like Rome, AcuRite wasn’t built in a day! The journey of becoming North America’s #1 Weather Station Brand began in 1943 when John L. Chaney started Chaney Instrument Co. in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Chaney and his associates gained recognition for their efforts aiding U.S. forces during WWII, which saw many women propel Chaney Instrument Co. forward by taking on traditional male roles within the workplace when men were away during the war. After an early focus on glass tube thermometers and various temperature and weather monitoring products through the decades, we’ve arrived in our 80th anniversary year of 2023!

To celebrate this milestone, we’ve released a line of limited-edition 80th-anniversary products that commemorate our past and put a fun spin on products to use in the future! Without further ado, read up on the special products below!

80th Anniversary AcuRite Iris® Limited-Edition Weather Station Bundle

What better way to celebrate our 80 anniversary than with a new weather station? This AcuRite Iris Box Set comes with an outdoor sensor, indoor display, and holiday ornament, all packaged in a commemorative box featuring archival Chaney Instrument Co. photos and a unique thank-you message to our loyal customers under the lid. The outdoor sensor includes a throwback AcuRite logo and 80th Anniversary branding and boasts a translucent polycarbonate anemometer and wind vane for added durability compared to previous AcuRite Iris models.

The indoor HD display provides the same comprehensive weather information that long-time AcuRite fans know and love but also brandishes a throwback AcuRite logo and oak accents to symbolize the traditional 80th-anniversary “gift.” In addition, the display is numbered out of 1,000 and exhibits a unique 80th-anniversary screen upon initial startup.

A limited-edition, ready-to-hang holiday ornament caps off this box set! The miniature AcuRite Iris has a movable wind vane and wind cups and will surely create extra sparkle for your tree this (and every) holiday season.

80th Anniversary 7-Inch Replica of Largest Glass Tube Thermometer in the World

Did you know that Chaney Instrument Co. once laid claim to creating the largest glass tube thermometer in the world? That’s right! Unveiled in downtown Lake Geneva and dedicated to world peace in 1958, the towering, giant (functioning!) thermometer was a notable landmark for locals and tourists alike. At its dedication, Chaney Instrument Co. handed out miniature replicas of the thermometer for at-home use, and for our 80th anniversary, we brought them back!

The new-for-2023 replica stands 7 inches tall, measures temperatures from -20 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and features the current AcuRite logo and 80th Anniversary branding. Its durable construction makes it suitable for indoor or outdoor use, and the two included screws make for easy mounting. Decorate your home, shed, or workplace with this little bit of AcuRite history!

Purchased the Swizzle Stix for my husband's birthday. They bring back so many memories of family parties. We will be purchasing several more for gifts, for family & friends! We LOVE them. A fun way to get the party started. Cheers!

My accurate stopped sending accurate signals. When I checked, the poor thing had lost its paddles and amazingly, I was able to order just that. I had this station for almost 7 years and just accepted it working without much supervision. I had not replaced the original batteries. Now when the new paddle part comes in I'll be pleased with discerning the outside inclement weather again. Usually when I've ordered something like this, it's made in china and just a throw-away. Purchased mine through Costco. Thank-you for such a reliable excellent product.
